Life-saving medical support for Katie Grose
Donation protected
Last week Wednesday, Katie was admitted to the hospital with uncontrollable abdominal pain. It was quickly discovered she had acute pancreatitis. Over the course of the next few days, her condition deteriorated rapidly. She has multi-organ failure, her body is in uncontrollable acidosis, and extensive pancreatic damage that may be irreversible. The doctors are doing everything they can for her and we are taking it hour by hour. Currently, she is sedated, on a ventilator, continuous dialysis, an insulin drip, and blood transfusions, with more lines and IV medicine than I have ever seen in my 10 years as a nurse. The doctors say her prognosis is not good and she has a high chance of mortality.
That said, we refuse to give up hope. Katie is due to get married to the love of her life, Jeff, next October. The past couple years have been the happiest of her life, and she deserves decades more years to come. She is a fighter and a Taurus, so naturally she’s stubborn as hell.
While we are thankful for every minute she is with us, we do wish to look toward the future. Inpatient costs at the hospital are astronomical, not including the time missed from work for both her and her fiancé. Please consider donating toward her recovery fund to support her during this precarious time.
Katie has been a nurse for many years, providing exceptional care to her patients and residents. She has touched many lives and has made such an impact on this world. Let’s show her our love, and please keep her in your prayers.
