Life-saving surgery and care for my Boy

Hi, I’m fundraising for my beloved cat Boy. I’ve had him since he was a kitten and I’ve been blessed to share my home with him for over a decade. He’s been my constant companion, comfort and furry child and I don’t know what I would have done without him during caring for my Dad, after losing Dad, throughout all the lockdowns and in the aftermath of painful breakups. He is like family, to me, and the closest to a child that I have.

He has a big and quite risky operation tomorrow to remove a large tumour from his kidney and at the moment is very poorly indeed. However, he’s in the excellent care of the best animal oncology unit in the UK and at the moment the prognosis is good, assuming no complications arise during the operation. I’ve been told he could make a full recovery. The animal hospital are arranging a direct claim with my pet insurance company, but the costs on top of the full cover of £7K currently exceed £1,669.98, with potential further increases pending the results of tomorrow’s operation, plus medication costs and check ups. I have no idea what I’ll need, I just know I’ve hit my insurance limit. I will have to pull out of even more shift work than I already have last week, this week and next week in order to care for him, incurring a three week loss of income. I have had two very kind emergency loans that cover just over half of the additional expenses to cover payments already requested by the animal hospital pre-op, which are not covered by my insurance, but I must repay those emergency loans. I’m asking for help because I really will struggle to make essential payments like rent and food etc without it. Hypothetically, if everyone I’m connected to on Facebook donated even £2, it would help me out of a really difficult and fairly desperate financial hole.
