Life-Saving Surgery for Deputy John Brady
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Miranda Daigle and I'm fundraising for my brother, John Brady.
On Sunday evening, January 15th, 2023, John was on duty when he suddenly felt severe pain in his head and neck. John knew something was wrong and pulled into a turning lane to attempt to pull off the road. At that point, John experienced a medical emergency that caused him to blackout. The blackout caused him to wreck his patrol cruiser into a pole. The impact split the power pole in half. The airbags in the cruiser did not deploy during impact.
At this point, bystanders - who our family will forever be grateful for - provided first aid and were able to assist John out of his patrol cruiser.
John was transported by ambulance to Atrium Cabarrus, where he underwent testing including a CT scan. The CT scan results showed that he had bleeding in the brain. Due to the severity of the test results, John was transported directly to CMC Main via ambulance.
Our dad along with John's wife, Melissa, had arrived at Atrium Cabarrus and were able to follow the ambulance to CMC Main.
At CMC Main, John's neurosurgeon promptly identified the brain bleed as an aneurysm that was actively blooming out on each side.
Early Monday morning, John underwent a life-saving emergency 3-hour surgery. During the surgery, the neurosurgeon identified other tears in his neck area that were of concern.
The neurosurgeon was pleased with the surgery although John is nowhere near being in the clear just yet. John is recovering and can communicate and move his arms and legs when asked. He has to remain in the hospital bed and limit his movement so that his heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen levels stay within a safe range.
Tuesday morning, John underwent another CT scan to make sure the surgery resulted in an improvement in his condition.
John remains in ICU at CMC Main at this time. At some point, he will be transferred to another room at CMC Main. We do not know how long he will remain in the hospital or if he will have to have physical therapy or what exactly the recovery process will look like just yet.
This GoFundMe fundraiser has been set up to help John and Melissa with costs related to medical expenses, travel/gas for Melissa driving to and from the hospital, meals and other expenses related to John's aneurysm. Melissa is an elementary teacher and has understandably had to take time off during this time.
Although John and Melissa have only asked for your thoughts and prayers, I feel we should bless them with any monetary donations we can. Please, if you are able to donate, feel free to do so here. All donations received will go directly to John & Melissa Brady.
If you are unable to donate, please keep John and Melissa in your prayers.
