Lifesaving Surgery for Kathleen Feeney

Hello everyone, Our 75 year old Sister, Sister-in-law and Aunt Katie is a kind, vibrant, lively soul.  Twenty three years ago Katie and her husband Paul were having difficulty making ends meet in the United States due to their physical and mental heath. They moved to a beautiful, small fishing village called Las Galeras, in Samana which is in the more remote northern part of the Dominican  Republic. She and Paul lived simply and happily in Las Galeras where they became creative and productive members of their town. They made many wonderful, life long friends there. Katie spent  much of her time working in the animal clinics and doing her part to help the animals in the DR. Katie was planning to return home to live with her family  in the U.S. after her husband of 30 plus years unexpectedly passed away during the COVID pandemic. However, yesterday, just before we got her home, she suffered a terrible fall and completely shattered her hip. Katie is very frail she weighs 85 lbs and she needs reconstructive surgery within the next 48 hours in order to survive at all. The Drs told us that she is not strong enough for us to fly her back to the United States due to the risk of blood clotting and embolisms. Katie's Medicare is not accepted in the Dominican Republic and Katie doesn’t  have any money . All of Katie’s medical bills must be paid out of pocket. The Drs told us she will not be able to travel at all after her surgery and that she will need to go to a four week long rehabilitation center in the Dominican Republic with 24/7 care before she will be strong enough  to come back home to the U.S. Please help save our Sister, Sister in law and out Aunt Katie's life. All of her siblings are pitching in but this is bigger  than we are.  It is difficult and humbling for us to reach out for help but here we are. Please have mercy and Grace for Katie and for us.
