Life-Saving Surgery for Skyler

Skyler needs urgent help to survive cancer—and I can’t do it alone.

I recently found four new tumors in Skyler’s right mammary glands. Only 1.5 months after her first surgery for malignant cancer. This is a huge shock. No one expected that.

That first procedure was effortfully overcome, but this time there’s no way through it without magic/support, cause it’s way more extensive.

She has saved my life more than once. This is me trying to show up for her the same way.

Skyler is only 7.5 years old

She could have gotten 15 years

She is my family, my love, my significant other—more than anything or anyone I’ve ever known.

Skyler taught me unspeakably much, perhaps in this moment most importantly: healthy interdependence.

Due to the specifics of the cancer type there’s still a real chance for her to live a long healthy life—if she gets all of the needed surgery. This time around, it’s all or nothing. However, the treatment will not begin unless I am able to cover the entirety of the recommended plan.

The vet currently estimates the total cost at 24,500 DKK (approx. 3,640 USD).

The reason I’m making my first—and hopefully last—GoFundMe is that I currently live on a very limited income (disability benefits) and simultaneously I’m dealing with my own health challenges. I simply cannot afford it right now (neither surgery nor death).

I’ve been through more than my share of cancer losses in my family. I know the terrain. But I’m not ready to do it again—not with her. Not now. Not yet.

My love for her is abundant. She’s expanded my world beyond my imagination.

All of these are low-risk procedures with speedy recovery and relatively minimal distress for the animal. All her bloodwork looks perfect and she is physically strong and fit.

This treatment plan is based on careful evaluation by Skyler’s veterinary team, who are competent and trustworthy.

Additionally, because I’m a critical thinker, her first primary tumor was actually reviewed by a specialist in tumor pathology at a dedicated animal hospital.

Finally, this GoFundMe is based on that medical foundation and treatment plan.
