Life-Saving Treatment for Paige's Lymphoma
Donation protected
I am writing to you on behalf of Paige. My name is Spencer, and I am Paige’s boyfriend and her biggest fan. I know it is the most cliché line in the book, but she is truly the strongest person I know. Paige has already undergone surgery and is in the process of receiving numerous chemo treatments to fight her Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. While she is winning the fight against cancer, the battle against medical bills are looming. I am asking you, on her behalf, to consider donating to help pay for the life-saving treatment she is receiving from her amazing medical staff.
The signs first began last year. Paige, a friend visiting from out of town, and I were on a hike at Cape Falcon, one of the most picturesque places on the Oregon Coast. She kept it under wraps because she didn’t want to be a bother, but Paige’s groin and back were in excruciating pain. She had never felt this pain before, so she took some ibuprofen and waited for the pain to subside. The next day, the pain came back. This time, it felt like she was getting stabbed in her kidney. She went to Urgent Care, and they ran some tests. She was prescribed antibiotics, and everything seemed ok again. This same song and dance continued for the next few months. Pain, doctors, tests, bloodwork, scans. No answers. New symptoms would present themselves little by little. Drenching night sweats, abdominal pain, extreme difficulty breathing, and a lump above her collarbone solidified the severity.
Then one day, we got the call. That surreal experience you refuse to believe will ever happen. I could only sit next to her, feeling helpless as I listened to the doctor on the phone explain to her that the latest scan found swollen lymph nodes all over her body. They couldn’t say definitively, but they were almost certain it was Lymphoma. I watched her and waited for a cue. How do I react? My partner was just told in uncertain terms her life was about to completely change. There was no hesitation. Immediately, she called the hospital to book her follow-up appointments. I knew if she were going to show this much resolve and confidence, I would too.
Unfortunately, being a total badass and facing your mortality with zero fear doesn’t pay the mountain of medical bills that come along with fighting cancer. This is where you - our friends, families, colleagues both former and current, and anyone with love and empathy in your hearts, come in. Your generosity will help Paige stay on her feet during this difficult time. Money is tight for everyone these days, but even the smallest amount will go a long way to help Paige once Chemo has ended. With your help, we hope to hit our goal of $15,000.
*I would like to give a special shoutout to every doctor, nurse, orderly, receptionist, social worker, and anyone even remotely adjacent to the medical field that we have been in contact with since this ordeal began. We have been so grateful to have them on our side and guiding us through this process.
