Life-Saving Treatment for Valkyrie
Donation protected
Hello all,
My name is Casey Staum, and I am a college student creating this GoFundMe with the hope that the nature of Valkyrie's current situation will both reach and resonate with enough people to save her life.
On February 5, 2022, I rescued 6-month-old Valkyrie from a shelter where she arrived as the runt of her litter. In the last 2 and 1/2 months, I have enjoyed the privilege of forging a bond with her that goes far beyond all things material. She is my person, my best friend, my sidekick, and is in many ways like a daughter to me.
On April 20, 2022, two days after Valkyrie stopped eating, I brought her to an Emergency Animal Hospital. While there, she was diagnosed with an incredibly rare disease called Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP). FIP is a disease for which there is no known FDA-approved cure. However, through information gathered from physicians and subsequent research, I became aware of an experimental drug that has shown to be incredibly effective in curing FIP.
This drug is GS-551524, and its efficacy rate is well over 80%. Unfortunately, the total cost of this treatment is roughly $7,000-$10,000, and as a college student working to pay rent and tuition I cannot cover that cost without the generosity & help of others. Thus, I have created this GoFundMe page to see if we as a community can be the team that Valkyrie needs. I understand that not everyone will be able to donate, but if you are able to simply share the link to this GoFundMe, you will be making more of an impact than you could realize.
With Love,
Valkyrie & Casey
