Lift up Sumi

Hi, I am Scott Blake, the husband of Sumi Blake.

 

My wife, Sumi recently suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm. Sumi collapsed at the gym after finishing with her morning clients.  Sumi experienced a violent seizure and was transported by ambulance to St. Anthony's Hospital in Crown Point, IN. She has severe brain bleeding and experienced neurological damage to the frontal lobes of her brain.

 

Sumi was rushed to Northwestern Hospital in Chicago for emergency surgery to relieve the pressure in her brain and stop the bleeding. She had

some violent seizures and pain which I can only imagine.

 

I have watched my wife fight to survive against something that kills 50% of its victims...and still she has been able to smile and show her passion for life.

 

Sumi is part of Living Hope Church, where she volunteers on a regular basis...she was recently baptized two weeks ago and has brought so many people back to Jesus, including myself 20 years ago. Sumi's faith in Jesus is so contagious...she convinced me to get baptized with her and brought nearly 50 people to come to church in the past couple years.

 

Sumi has been a CrossFit coach and trainer for 12 years at CrossFit Crown Point in Crown Point, Indiana. Sumi has changed thousands of lives with her love and support. She is an inspiration to so many...she is a once in a lifetime person that literally exists to be kind to everyone around her.  Sumi is an amazing mother, who has always put her family first and sacrificed more than words can describe. To sum it up, I have never met a human being that is so generous...so loving...so passionate for life...so compelled to lift up others around her.

Our battle now is to come up with financial means to get Sumi admitted into the high level care that Shirley Ryan Rehab Center will support. The neurological damage that Sumi incurred will require specialized care that Shirley Ryan can provide…doctors have discussed the plan with me and highly suggested we follow their recommendations to insure a full recovery. 

 

 We have one shot at this…my one wish is that I get this right and get Sumi into the best care facility and give her the best chance at living her best life. God bless you all! Thank you for all your love and support! Thank you Jesus for the healing that is already on its way!
