Lifting Debbie Up!

This is Martha Thomassie . My husband and I have been friends of Debbie and Jerry Badeaux for over 36 years. She is the mother of three adult children: Drew, Scot, and Katie and two grandchildren In early October of last year, Debbie went into the hospital with pneumonia. Very quickly a Strep B bacteria got into her blood stream and began to shut down her organs causing her hands and feet to go without adequate oxygen and blood for several days. Debbie was very close to death and the tissue in her extremities began to die. The Lord chose to spare Debbie. After months in the hospital and very much prayer , Debbie was able to begin to recover but at a terrible cost. She lost her left hand to about three inches above the wrist , most of each of the fingers of her right hand ,and both legs to the middle of her calf.
During all the 119 days in the hospital, Debbie did not lose faith that God saved her for a reason. As each limb heals she is working with therapists and professionals to be fitted for new prostetics. They will look and feel to the touch like skin and will work with her mind conrolling them through use of a computor chip. Looking forward to walking and doing the little things of life that we so often take for granted, Debbie is optimistic about her future. She is praising God for sparing her life and is working hard in therapy to gain the necessary skills and strengh to learn to use her "new" hands and walk on her "new" feet.
The Badeaux's feel so blessed to have received so much love ,support , and prayers from so many in our entire community. The Badeaux family has already made necessary renovations to add a handicap ramp to their home and create a handicap assessable bathroom adjoining their master bedroom. Funds from this account would help defray these unexpected renovation costs and medical costs not covered by insurance. Many more expenses will come up and my hope is that these funds can ease their financial burdens somewhat so that the family is able to concentrate on meeting the challenges that lie ahead. Debbie is a survivor and she will continue to live in joy by God's infinite grace, living her faith one day at a time.
If you care to leave your name and address , Debbie would like to share a small token of her appreciation and love.
