Lifting Jen with Love: Supporting Her Healing Journey

From Jen:
Hello family and friends! There’s no easy way to share this, I was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer in January.

Due to family history, I’ve been getting screenings since turning 40, and imaging every 6 months due to seeing some masses. Back in August I was told they saw something in my ultrasound and mammogram that they needed to investigate further. The first round of biopsies came back ADH (Atypical Ductal Hyperplasia), pre cancer, on my right side.

Since then, I’ve had additional imaging and biopsies, including a MRI in January that caught Stage 0 DCIS (Ductal Carcinoma In Situ), a non invasive breast cancer, on my left side, that previous imaging didn’t see.

I’ll be having a double Mastectomy with lymph node removal on March 3 at Upstate Community Hospital, and reconstruction in the months to follow. I’ll be off work from 6 weeks to 3 months, if all goes well. Longer if more than the 2 surgeries are needed.

This has been difficult to handle but I’m thankful for early detection and the phenomenal care I’ve been getting at the Upstate Breast Cancer Center. And of course for the support from my parents and friends!

I’ve had some people ask how they can help, so my wonderful friends Sara and Carolyn created a GoFundMe, and I made an Amazon wish list for post mastectomy needs. Also calls, texts, and emails are welcome :)

Lifting Jen with Love: Supporting Her Healing Journey

Our dear friend Jen is facing one of the toughest battles of her life—a breast cancer diagnosis that will require a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. But she isn’t facing it alone. She has a circle of friends, family, and a community who adore her—and now it’s our turn to show her just how deeply she is loved.

Jen is the definition of strength, selflessness, and joy. Her upbeat spirit can brighten anyone’s day, and her heart is always open to others. She’s the kind of person who never hesitates to lend a helping hand, share a smile, or lift someone’s spirits. Above all, Jen is the light of her daughter Bella’s life—a devoted and loving mom who shows her every day what it means to be strong and kind.

Now, as Jen prepares for surgery and recovery, we want to lift her up the way she has lifted so many of us. While she bravely fights for her health, we can help ease her path by relieving the financial burdens that come with treatment.

Your donations will go directly toward:
• Medical expenses and post-surgery care
• Recovery needs, such as home care and physical therapy
• Living costs while Jen focuses on healing and being there for Bella

Every contribution, big or small, is a reminder to Jen that she is not alone. It is a symbol of love from everyone whose life she has touched. And if you cannot donate, sharing this page is another beautiful way to support her.

Let’s come together to show Jen how loved she is and help her focus on what matters most: healing and being with Bella.

With gratitude and love,
Carolyn McGovern
Sara DeMuth
Emily Williams
Laura Taylor (Saladrigas)
Caity Spurling
and SO many more that love you, Jen!
