Light and Love for Alex Malaga

On Sunday, December 13, we unexpectedly lost a warrior.  An incredibly brave soul. Debbie Malaga was Alex's beloved mommy.  She was a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a friend, a cancer survivor and hands down, the best event planner ever.  Yet her greatest joy was being a mother and best friend to her daughter Alex.   Debbie  was just shy of 56 years old .  She was passionate, she was spunky, she was determined, she was loyal, she was so hardworking.  Debbie had a heart of gold and was always helping others.  

Alex, a senior at North Broward Preparatory School, is an only child, and was adopted at birth by Debbie.  She is special, she is loved by many and she has endured much sadness.  Alex lost her Granny 11 years ago.  Then her world began to shake when Debbie was diagnosed with breast cancer in the Spring of 2016.  With Alex by her side, Debbie kicked cancer's butt and Alex's foundation was rebuilt.  A few years later, Alex lost the man she loved like a father- her dear Papa, Debbie's father, and again, Alex's world was rocked.  Now Alex has to face the ultimate loss, the loss of her beloved Mommy, the woman who has been there for her every day for her entire life. 

Alex is loving, smart, funny and full of spunk- just like her mama.  Tragically at the age of 18, this beautiful young woman has experienced an incomprehensible amount of loss.  We have created a GoFundMe to help provide financial support for Alex in her final year of high school and beyond.  On behalf of Debbie's beautiful girl, we thank you in advance for any support you are able to offer, including keeping Alex in your thoughts and prayers.

We know Debbie is now with her beloved Mommy and Daddy, having a drink from a sparkly bottle, confident that her people will take care of her baby.  And that we will.
