Light Up McCarren Park's Public Tennis Courts in Brooklyn

Hi Friends and Supporters,

We're the McCarren Tennis Association Corp (MTAC), and we're dedicated to making tennis accessible, safe and enjoyable for our community in North Brooklyn. Our tennis courts at McCarren Park are the heart of our community, where friendships are formed, skills are honed, and memories are made. However, we face a challenge—our limited hours due to insufficient lighting.

Why We Need Your Help:

Growing Demand: Participation in our annual A + B Ladder has more than doubled to over 300 players this year.

Limited Court Availability: Currently, only 3 out of 7 courts are lit, severely restricting evening play.

Community Benefit: Extending court hours will provide better access to the sport and benefit players of all ages, backgrounds, and income levels, fostering a healthier, more connected community.

Amount Already Raised by MTAC: $30,000

We are applying for a USTA Facility Assistance Grant, which could match up to $55,000 of our lighting budget and provide engineering services.

About Us:

Founded in 2009, MTAC has been dedicated to maintaining and improving the McCarren Park tennis courts. We've partnered with NYC Parks and the USTA for significant renovations, and now, as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, we're focused on further enhancing our facilities.

Court Maintenance: We work alongside NYC Parks' tennis court attendants to ensure the courts are well-maintained and safe for all users.

Community Events: We organize summer ladder leagues, tournaments, and social events to foster a vibrant and inclusive tennis community.

Youth Programs: We support initiatives like the City Parks Foundation’s free kids clinics, providing young players with opportunities to learn and grow.
