Sweet, young Garfield swallowed a collar while at a shelter in South Carolina that was over capacity and was going to be euthanized without a medical rescue.
Lighthouse agreed to take Garfield hoping the collar would pass through on its own which can happen with foreign bodies. However, it did not and Garfield needed emergency surgery to remove the collar and resect the colon.
Unfortunately, a week later a cat that was recently surrendered to us needed a pyometra emergency spay. Pyometra is a deadly uterine infection requiring immediate medical attention.
These two emergencies alone cost us $5,592.61. On top of that we have had 2 puppy medical emergencies, a senior dog in kidney failure requiring intensive bloodwork and a veterinary diet, as well as a dog that was returned to us who is in need of a mammary tumor removal and biopsy. We are overwhelmed by all of these emergencies that have happened in the last few weeks.
Lighthouse needs your support in order for us to continue providing the level of care that these dogs and cats deserve. Please consider donating. No amount is too small and every dollar is truly appreciated. ❤️
