Light Up the Laneways

Light Up the Laneways is a demonstration project that will set a precedent for the privately-led planning and implementation of laneway lighting in Toronto - the pilot stage of a longer initiative to animate laneways throughout our city using lighting, greening and art.
The project will bring local stakeholders from the development, business, and community sectors together in a Toronto city-building first that will transform two demonstration sites in the Ossington and Bloordale neighbourhoods. It has the support of Councillor Bailão, Councillor Layton, the Ossington BIA, Bloordale BIA, Ossington Community Association, Bloordale Community Improvement Association, Toronto Hydro, and the City’s Economic Development, Community Planning and Transportation Services Divisions.
But we need your help to make Light Up the Laneways a reality! We've already raised $30,000 to conduct the project planning, design and engineering processes in both communities; we now meed to raise an additional $65,000 to get the new lighting, greening and murals in place to transform the spaces into safe, vibrant community places.
We hope that that you'll help to #LightUptheLaneways in Toronto's west end!
About Us: The Laneway Project is a non-profit planning and placemaking firm focused on bringing laneways to life as complete public spaces - through demonstration projects, improved planning policies and public planning resources.
