Lil’ Scrapper needs your help

On July 10th Lil Scrapper was found abandoned and in critical condition. After searching hundreds of lost pet forums, websites, and posts, we were unable to locate the owner. Many individuals had seen this cat around and recognized he was sick, but ultimately did nothing because they either didn’t have the resources or considered him feral. After an entire day spent calling rescues and shelters and being turned away, we knew we couldn’t just leave him in the street to die, and thus made the decision to rescue him ourselves and take him to Powell vet.
The initial examination showed that Lil Scrapper was suffering from Testicular Necrosis and he was prepped for immediate surgery. During surgery they did additional testing and determined that although he was FIV positive the rest of his bloodwork and vitals were strong indicating a full recovery and a second chance at life.
The surgery went well and Lil Scrapper was sent home with his new moms to rest. Three days later Lil Scrapper went back for a checkup and we discovered he had an antibiotic resistant infection. He was given fluids, pain meds, and a more aggressive antibiotic and sent home for the weekend.
During his time over the weekend we saw him change from a fearful feral stray to a cuddly sweet pet who was lost and given up on. He no longer swatted or lunged and instead leaned into us, letting us hold him in our arms, and stroke his fur. All signs of fear and fight were gone. Unfortunately in this same timeframe, his body began shutting down possibly due to the infection. He could no longer eat on his own and had his first seizure in our care. We rushed him back to the vet where he is currently staying as they give him fluids and recheck vitals to determine the cause of this sudden deterioration.
We started this GoFundMe because we cannot help this lost pet alone. His current vet bills exceed $2000 and we have been pulling from our own savings to help save the life of an animal so many other passed on. He may not survive this, but he might have had just one person before us stopped and given him the same attention we had. This was not just a feral cat, this was someone’s pet once, lost and alone fighting for his life on the streets. We hope against hope that he makes it through this and has a second chance at life, but if the cards are not in his favor then we will make sure that he is given the kindness of a peaceful and painless death.
It is for these reasons that we humbly ask for your help in supporting Lil Scrapper’s care. Please consider donating or sharing this page. Anything helps and your support goes a long way. All proceeds will go directly to Powell Veterinary for his care. Thank you for your time and consideration.
