Internet Safety & Awareness - Help Publishing Childrens Book

The Book
The story unfolds with Lila the Ladybug and her friends discovering a mesmerizing web – symbolizing the internet. This web, sprinkled with water droplets that represent windows into a deceptive and toxic world, much like the screens of our phones and tablets. Our little insect friends become trapped and are later confronted by six spiders who come to feed on them, metaphorically as social media drains us of our time and motivation. Through Lila and her friends' journey, readers learn about the importance of caution and the perils of losing oneself in the digital universe...

My Story
Hello everyone, my name is Mel! I come from the beautiful ski town of Lake Tahoe, a gem nestled on the border of California and Nevada. My life has always revolved around a deep love for storytelling - creating narratives that are not just engaging but also meaningful and educational. Pursuing my dream to become a full-time writer, I've ventured into the world of children's literature.

Embarking on this path, I've come to realize the substantial investment required to bring such a project to life. Balancing a regular 9 to 5 job and managing a small photography side business, it's challenging to divert my limited resources towards this dream. Admittedly, asking for help doesn't come easy to me, but I believe that this story is too important not to be shared. It’s more than just a children's book; it's potentially a tool for learning and a catalyst for important conversations.

My Inspiration
In an era where our lives are increasingly intertwined with technology, guiding the youngest among us through the complex digital world becomes not just important, but essential. This realization led to me writing "Lila and the Wondrous Web" - a metaphorical tale aimed at educating children about the hidden dangers of social media and the internet.

As a storyteller invested in making a positive societal impact, I have been acutely aware of how technology, while beneficial, can also be a double-edged sword. Witnessing both children and adults getting caught in the intricate web of the digital world, I recognized the need for a story that resonates with them, teaching important lessons in an engaging and enjoyable manner.

How the Funds Will be Used...
My mission is to transform "Lila and the Wondrous Web" into a beautifully illustrated children's book that captivates and educates. Akin to stories like Three Little Pigs, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, or Jack and the Beanstalk, they have become ingrained into society's psyche. I aim to spark meaningful dialogues between children and adults about responsible technology use, making their digital interactions safer and more conscious. The funds I garner from this fundraiser will be used to pay my artists, editing, publishing and distribution. I hope to have this book available physically and digitally on all platforms like Amazon and Kindle.

Here's how your contribution will help us achieve our goal:
Where Your Donations Will Go:
Illustrations (35%): The heart of any great children's book! A significant portion will go towards creating captivating and colorful artwork that brings the story to life.
Professional Editing & Design (25%): To ensure our story is well-written, easy to read, and visually appealing, we will be hiring professional editors and designers.
Printing & Production (20%): The cost to print physical copies, so we can hold the finished book in our hands and share it with the world.
ISBN & Copyright (5%): To properly register and protect our work.
Marketing & Promotion (15%): Spreading the word about our book through social media, local advertising, and community outreach.
Contingency Fund (5%): To cover any unexpected costs that might arise.

Why Your Support Matters:
Your contribution will directly impact:
The quality of illustrations: Bringing the characters and story to life in a visual way and enigmatic way. I chose to make the art in a comic book super hero style because I feel that younger people can relate a bit more in that style.

Getting the book into the hands of children and parents: So that this important message and story can be shared with everyone globally!

My Goal:
I'm aiming to raise $4500 to cover all of the expenses of publishing this book. Every dollar helps and I appreciate your support.

Help Make this a Reality
Embark on this mission with me to create a significant impact on our future generations' digital footprint. But I truly believe this is something our kids and worried parents might need right now. I hope that "Lila and the Wondrous Web" will become more than a story; it will be a guide and a beacon of hope, empowering our children to tread wisely in the digital landscape.
