Raising money in memory of Lilia Rose English for KMH & QMC

Hi, we're Lucy & Lewis.

We lost our little girl Lilia Rose English on the 5th April 2024.

We'll be raising money for different departments who were fantastic with us throughout the NHS. These include the Birthing Unit and the Chapel at Kings Mill Hospital, alongside the Fetal Medicine Unit at Queens Medical Centre.

In short, at the 20 week scan, we found out that our little girl had something called 'tetralogy of fallot' - 4 heart defects that would require open heart surgery at birth. We were sent to the Fetal Medicine unit at Queens medical and also the Paediatric Cardiologist at Leicester Royal Infirmary. The Doctor's were confident in that Lilia could have this surgery when she was born, that she would recover well and lead a fairly normal life... positive news...

We then went back to QMC to which they wanted to do some more in depth testing on Lilia to see what could've caused this serious defect alongside possible clubfoot.

A sample was taken from the placenta and sent off to the genetics team for investigation. 2 weeks passed and we got the devastating news that Lilia had in fact, got a very serious 'Chromosomal Genetic Imbalance' - causing serious issues for her in all areas of her growth and development, physical and mentally.

On Wednesday the 3rd of April we lost our little girl & on Friday 5th April she was delivered and sent to the angels.

We would just like to say a huge thank you to the Birthing unit at Kings Mill Hospital as they made a heartbreaking situation the most comfortable it could be for us both. The Chapel/Chaplin at Kings Mill for sorting everything with Lilia's beautiful Funeral.

We'd also like to show our upmost appreciation for the team at QMC in the metal medicine unit and genetics team, for getting and giving us the answers as to why all of this was happening.

They'll be different phases of our fundraising, with hopefully more to come in the next year or two!

So far, this is what we have planned...

Firstly, Harry Jones will be running an ultra marathon in memory of Lilia in July. Harry has committed himself to some very intense training and has already smashed numerous different runs for different charities - we're forever grateful he's decided to dedicate this one to Lilia.

Secondly, we'll be participating in the 3 peaks challenge in 24 hours within the next couple of months.

As a family, this has been such a horrific and challenging ordeal to deal with, especially processing the loss of our little girl.

Any level of donation is welcome and greatly appreciated, we understand times are hard currently for everyone financially. We'd just like to give a little back to the Birthing Unit and the Chapel at Kings Mill Hospital, alongside the Fetal Medicine Unit at Queens Medical Centre.
