Lillie's mandibulectomy for oral cancer
Donation protected
Hi friends of Lillie! After receiving some interest from those who want to contribute financially to Lillie's jaw surgery, I've decided to create a GoFundMe campaign.
If you've made it to Lillie's Instagram, then you probably know her story by now. In July 2020, she was found on the side of the road in Stockton with her puppy and was separated from him (he went to a private rescue while she was sent to the public kill shelter). She had worms, a rope around her neck, lots of anxiety, and more. Three years later, and thanks to her trainer and friends/family, she has transformed into a happy, trusting, brave girl!
In June, I found out that Lillie's oral tumor was extramedullary plasmacytoma, a form of cancer. After working with an oncology specialist and running tests to ensure the cancer hasn't spread, we decided that surgery to remove part of her jaw was the best course of action for a lifetime of health. She will have surgery on July 25th. Since the surgery will involve removing part of the jaw bone, it is quite expensive, ranging from 7.5k at the lowest to 8.5k at the highest. As someone in my twenties living in an expensive city, I had a bit of sticker shock to say the least.
I was hesitant to create this campaign because I don't want anyone to feel pressured to contribute. Emotional support is just as valuable as financial support. However, I wanted to provide the opportunity for those who would like to contribute financially.
Thank you all for being an amazing support system throughout Lillie's journey!
Xoxo, Lillie's mom.
