Please donate to Lilli’s legal fees and help us defend the rights of kids with disabilities to appropriate assessments and education.
Our Kids Deserve Better
Delay and deny. All too often public schools are failing our children with disabilities through a lack of awareness and understanding of their unique needs. Please stand with Lilli and our family as we fight for her right to an appropriate education. The outcome of Lilli’s case will impact not only her future but the future of so many other children with disabilities. Together we can make a difference. Join us in fighting for a brighter future for our children.
Lilli’s Story
Our daughter Lillianne Davis, affectionately known as “Lilli”, is a beautiful, caring, intelligent, and inquisitive 13-year-old. Lilli has dreams of exploring the world through travel, science, and environmental studies. Lilli is capable of endless possibilities with the appropriate education that meets her unique needs. Unfortunately, to date, Lilli’s needs have not been appropriately met by the public school system. In fact, our school system chose to take Lilli to court over assessments we requested.
In 2017 Lilli was formally diagnosed with Dyslexia and Auditory Processing Disorder through private assessments, in addition to her previous diagnoses of Autism and Genetic Differences. Despite years of struggling with reading and writing concepts, her public school failed to identify these disabilities causing years of unnecessary frustration and the loss of critical instruction for Lilli.
We cannot stand by while a precedent is set to deny children appropriate assessments. Our family has been forced to take a stance in protecting not only the rights of our daughter, but also the rights of all children with disabilities to receive an appropriate education driven by appropriate assessments. Our family is mentally, physically, and financially exhausted. However, as a military family we share the core belief that we must not back down from what is difficult. Instead, we must face our challenges as one unit and fight injustice for all who cannot. The costs are substantial and legal fees are anticipated in excess of $50,000. A win will not only help Lilli, but numerous other children with disabilities, get the education they need and deserve.
Thank you for your support for Lilli and for all children with disabilities!
