Lilly Kinnamon's Medical Expenses
Donation protected
Is it her laugh? Her smile? Her keen intellect? Her deep commitment to spiritual growth, and her willingness to share her journey? The fact that she’s taller than all of us? Or that she loves to dance—in high heels? What is it we love about Lilly Kinnamon so much?
Maybe it’s all of those things.
And now Lilly—who has held so many of us up when we were troubled— needs our help.
After feeling sick for two years and going through many tests, Lilly was recently diagnosed with two kinds of lymphoma and “smoldering” myeloma. She is now undergoing chemotherapy and bone marrow treatments to try to arrest her cancers. Being Lilly, she’s meeting the challenge head-on, maintaining a positive attitude, never complaining, and keeping up with what everyone else in her circle is dealing with these days.
Lilly lives in Olympia, Washington, and has worked as an interpreter for deaf children and as a para-educator in the Olympia school district. (She has also gone back to school to become a social worker in expressive arts therapy.) But her doctor said she can’t work while she is undergoing treatment—her immune system is too diminished, and it would be especially dangerous for her to be around children. She has used all her vacation and sick leave. If she doesn’t get enough donated sick leave, she may lose her job and if she loses her job, she will lose her insurance as well. Luckily, she has the support of her family and friends, her children, Marley and Julia, and her closest friend Teri, a nurse, with whom she is living.
Even with her insurance, Lilly’s portion of the medical expenses for her treatment will cost approximately $40,000. At least that’s the best estimate her insurance company can give her right now.
Please help us support Lilly by making a donation today that honors your friendship with her and your ability to give.
