Lily's Recovery Help

Hi, Friends–Many of you have asked about how to best support Kate and Derek since hearing about their daughter Lily's accident this past weekend. Although their world has been turned upside down, Kate is deeply moved and appreciative of everyone's concern and support. The injuries and trauma are serious, but the family is optimistic that Lily will be able to make a strong recovery with time.

Lily's injuries include multiple breaks in her pelvis and foot that required two separate surgeries to make repairs. As you can imagine, the next few weeks will be extremely challenging for Lily as she heals and recovers at home under Kate and Derek's care.

Lily was discharged from the hospital only two days after her second surgery and four days from the time of the accident. Kate and Derek now must care for Lily in their home with little follow-up support from the medical team at Children's Hospital.

In addition to lost work days for the family, there are ongoing out-of-pocket medical expenses to contend with. These include renting or purchasing things like a wheelchair, medications, wound care supplies, etc.
