Lincoln Homestead Virginia Restoration

Donation protected
Help save this significant historical landmark in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, home to the Virginia ancestors of President Abraham Lincoln!

Work begins in the spring 2020 with a completion goal of August 2021. Funds will be collected throughout this time, and the donor incentives listed below are available as long as quantities allow.

Join us - Benjamin and Sarah Bixler - in contributing to the work at the historic Lincoln Homestead in Linville, Virginia. This home, built circa 1800 by the great uncle of President Abraham Lincoln, has been uninhabited for the past 20 years and is in serious disrepair.  All new systems - electric, plumbing, heating and cooling - are needed in addition to careful work to preserve and restore the house's historic features. This takes significant financial resources, skills and time.

We have taken on this project to save the Lincoln Homestead because we care about the house, its history and the people who have lived here. There is much work to be done on the house, as well as learning about the Lincolns, the persons they enslaved and many others with connections to this historical landmark. We have committed ourselves to this work, and we invite your participation.

We plan to restore significant historical features of the house while tastefully updating it to accommodate contemporary family living. We are investing our skills, time and financial resources in this work. However, our budget limits our ability to do everything that could be part of a complete historic restoration. We are seeking contributions from those who also care about saving the Lincoln Homestead to help us restore the distinctive historical features of the house such as rebuilding the front portico, exterior masonry repair and painting, replicating the original shutters, fireplace repair and restoring the front parlor.

The Lincoln Homestead will become our family's private residence, but we are offering once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for you to experience the results of this work through GoFundMe incentives.

If you would rather not receive an incentive, please donate through this Paypal link . Contact us below if you have questions about the best method for your contribution.
