Linda Bedow

Hi my name is Rhonda Bedow. I'm fundraising for my sister Linda. On May 5th 2023, my sister was found unconscious on the floor in her home. She was immediately taken to Rutherfordton Hospital for treatment. She was very ill and we weren't sure if she would make it through the night. Linda was diagnosed with ketoacidosis and she was in critical condition with a blood sugar over 500. That night she aspirated blood and stomach acid and was then intubated and put on a respirator. She was placed in ICU where she remained for a week, needing constant care and remaining in critical condition. It took several attempts to get her off respirator. She finally began to regain consciousness on Friday the 12th. Concerns for brain function only started to fade Saturday. She stayed in ICU until Tuesday when she moved to a regular floor. On Thursday she was moved to a nursing facility for continued monitoring and physical therapy. We aren't sure how long she'll be there. Her hospital bills and rehab are continuing to build up. She is not working and it may take a lot of time to get back to her job.
