Linda & George Roderick

Hi Friends. I’d like to ask for your help. My good friends Linda and George Roderick are going through a tough time. Those of you who know them, know they moved to Ft. Myers several years ago to begin their semi retirement and for Geo to pursue his dreams of being a full-time musician. Something he put off for many years to raise a family.

Enter Hurricane Ian. He came into Ft. Myers at full force leaving a mess in his path. They were able to make it out of their home injury-free with only their two dogs in tow. I am thankful that they are safe, but that day changed their life. Their home was flooded and everything in it was destroyed. George literally had to swim through the streets to get access to his home during the storm. Their car flooded and sank, but they were able to make it to safety.

They are currently staying in MA with their children. Insurance will not cover their losses and FEMA has not been any help. They are left with a home that has major damage and no funds to replace it.

They are heading back to Ft. Myers this week to try to salvage what is left of their home. That means sleeping on an air mattress with no heat or air conditioning and a bathroom that isn’t fully functioning. There is no furniture or home comforts left. They are going to need to start their life over again. A life they thought would have them safely taken care of throughout their retirement. George also has been unable to work with most of the bars and restaurants closed due to the hurricane. Just another problem to overcome.
