Linda Van Gils .. Cancer

Hi my name is Cara and i would like to try to raise funds for my Parents Herbert and Linda Van Gils. This photo was recently taken at a family wedding in November 2023.

My mum was diagnosed with an infected cyst on her cheek in Townsville Qld 2022 while they were holidaying there, after many antibiotics failed, it was recommended by family to pursue a biopsy, that biopsy discovered that mum had a form of skin cancer (a squamous cell carcinoma) and needed urgent surgery, after surgery mum was left without her right eye and a big skin graft on her face, and intensive radiation to her head and face.

Doctors had informed Mum that she would have further operations if needed to fix her skin graft and create a fake eye giving her confidence when out in public.

After months of recovery in QLD she returned home and

consulted a doctor in NSW, and he discovered that the radiation had damaged her jaw and now requires more intensive surgery.

After returning to QLD for her next consultation with doctors, they strongly advised that all further consultations and surgery happen in QLD.

As Mum lives in NSW and has to travel to QLD they struggle to have enough money for Fuel, Tolls, Accommodation and basic living expenses as they still have to pay rent for their unit in NSW.

Mum is at her wits end and doesn't want to be an inconvenience or burden to anyone, causing both my parents a lot of stress and worry as she is over it all.

Any funds raised would help go towards repairs to their 20+ year old van that they travel in back and forth to Queensland, petrol, tolls, accommodation, medical expenses and living costs.

Anyone who knows my Mum will agree she has a heart of gold and has always been "the rock'" in our family.

Any assistance at all would be fully appreciated.
