Linda's battle with brain cancer

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Claire. I'm the daughter of Linda, who is now facing one of life's cruellest challenges.

4 months ago Linda was misdiagnosed as having suffered from a mini stroke, 2 weeks ago while I was visiting she appeared to be having another episode. Naturally, I got her to seek medical attention where she was rushed to hospital for further examination. We recieved the news that no one wants to hear. She had a massive tumour in her front left lobe. She was transferred to Princess Alexandra hospital for further testing where we recieved the devastating news that she has grade 4 Glioblastoma. Glioblastoma is fast-growing and aggressive brain tumor.

Mum is determined to fight this for as long as possible and we are all here to support her as best as we can. I live 6 hours away and have been travelling back and forth juggling children to make it happen.
Surgery to remove the tumour is impossible. The tumour is located deep in the brain and removing the tumour would cause significant brain damage. Mum is to commence 37 rounds of repeated radiation from next week and then chemo is to follow
This is where we need help. Mum lives an island life (calls Russel island home) which is isolated from the hospital. The hospital has organised for her to stay near the hospital in accomodation and they partly will cover the cost but not all of it. Unfortunately health insurance won't help as she was the victim if a motorbike accident several years ago.
Mum and her partner have been hard workers their whole life, unfortunately mums partner has had to take days off here and there to he with mum as much as possible and this has effected their income. Finance and costs should be the last thing they're worried about at this time and should be just focused on fighting this horrible disease and being as comfortable as possible. I'm asking for any donation from our friends and family to help cover the cost of her accomodation, fuel and any other expenses for while mum is fighting this and to make her as comfortable as possible. I'm hoping we can all get behind her and support her like she has supported so many people in her lifetime. If we can raise enough money than it means she will not have to go through radiation alone.

We will share updates here for those who wish to be updated and share information about glioblastoma.

This is also an excellent opportunity to mention that you should always get a second opinion if something doesn't feel right or add up. Early detection is so important.
