Hi! We are Rick and Cheryl. Our family is adopting a little boy from China. We have been married for thirty years and have five children - two biological and three adopted. We love children and have a heart for the fatherless.
From 2010 to 2014, we lived in China. Several children came through our home – some for a short time, some for longer. One boy, Zachary, lived with us for more than a year. He was a very sick little boy. We loved and cared for him, giving him a chance at life. He is sweet and so loving. After all he had been through, it was amazing to see his willingness to trust us. We totally fell in love with him!
In July of 2014, our family needed to return to America. Leaving Zachary behind was heartbreaking for us. He was left in the care of kind and loving Chinese women.
Now that we have restarted our life here in America, we believe that little Zachary belongs with us. We love and miss him so much! Our agency was able to find his file and we have started the process to make Zachary officially a part of our family! It has been a really long 19 months without him.
International adoption is quite expensive, approximately $30,000. That $30,000 will cover all of the adoption fees, both in the U.S. and in China, as well as travel fares to bring Zachary home. We need to complete all of our paperwork within six months!
Fundraising is not something we are comfortable with. In a perfect world, we would just have all of the money needed without having to ask. But then again, in a perfect world there wouldn’t be children who need families either. Zachary means the world to us!
