Lindsay Haugen Legal Fund

In 2016, Lindsay Haugen pleaded guilty to murdering her boyfriend Robert Mast and was sentenced to 60 years. Her story is featured on Netflix's "I Am a Killer." This petition is to address a couple factors in her case:

 

Inadequate Legal Counsel

Lindsay was under the impression from what little advice her lawyer gave her that she was doomed from the start and to accept any sentencing she was given to avoid harsher sentences, such as the death penalty.

 

Unethical Police Interrogation

The police that interrogated her following the murder used her intoxicated state to coax her into having conversations about the crime that they would later use in court to convict her.

 

These may not sound like much to an average person, but everyone - no matter who you are or what crime you committed - deserves proper legal counsel. Depriving them of that then throwing them into a prison for years - or decades - is an outrage and nothing short of gross negligence on the part of the "justice" system.

 

While the media ran wild with her story, painting Lindsay as a cold-hearted murderer that killed Robby with no remorse and would do it again, they are quick to point out that Robby's mother and step-father have forgiven her and that Lindsay is a military veteran (the latter being a fact even the New York Post omitted from their salacious article on her). She is not a 'repeat offender,' a hardened criminal or unapologetic about the murder.

 

This campaign hopes to achieve legal funds for Lindsay to hire adequate legal counsel for a retrial.  Lindsay Haugen has been a model inmate for the 6 years she has been incarcerated and has full time work waiting for her outside of prison.  She deserves a second chance and with this campaign we hope to achieve exactly that.

 

Who am I? I'm just a good friend that helps however I can. I am in constant contact with both Lindsay and her family. Once her legal funds goal has been achieved, every penny will go to them. They personally didn't want to put themselves out there and risk getting death threats so I stepped in.
