Support Lindsay Rice

2/22/2024- 4am:

This past year (2023) Lindsay was diagnosed with decompensated liver failure. She hadn’t been feeling well, went to the doctor, and tests revealed her terminal condition and the need for a liver transplant. Sadly, this past week she was informed she was no longer eligible for the transplant, and would not survive the transplant surgery. Her kidneys and liver are both failing.

At this point Palliative Care and Hosparus have spoken with Lindsay about comfort care. She will initially transition to inpatient Hosparus then home— that is the goal.

Lindsay is on medical leave without pay from her job, and has exhausted all her sick and vacation time from work. We are working with an attorney to apply for SSDI/SSI.

With that, she still has a deep love and concern regarding Hendrix’s needs (her 4 year old daughter) and expenses for her preschool care, as well as day to day and month to month living care. We would anticipate the raised funds would help to relieve some of her stress over the expenses.

While in Hosparus care she will continue to have her paracentesis as needed and her meds to attempt to keep her fluid retention under control, as well as pain management.

But there are no guarantees. Just hope.

The goal is to get her through the next months, catch her up on responsibilities, and continue structure and routine for Hendrix. Funds raised will go directly to Hendrix expenses regarding her daycare/preschool, and other expenses necessary as they arise. Hendrix’s care is our top priority.
