Lindsey and Mel’s marathon mission
Donation protected
Lindsey and I are currently over half way through our 16 week training programme for the Rob Burrows Leeds marathon for MND due to be held on the 14th May 2023.
I’m not going to lie, it could have gone a little better (I sprained my ankle and have had a few weeks off my plan) but I’m not focusing on the negatives and staying focussed to try and get to the start line in good shape.
This is the second marathon Lindsey and I have trained for, the first was Manchester marathon which we were due to complete in April 2020 which was 2 weeks after the world was struck by Covid and we were all plunged into the first lockdown (which all feels like a lifetime ago now).
We are both determined to get round this marathon as we were cheated out of our first attempt and would like to raise as much money as we possibly can with your help.
We would like to raise some money in the process for two chosen charities close to our hearts. I would like to raise money for the Leeds Hospital Charity who support the Leeds Cancer Centre which is still a cause close to my heart having lost my mum Janet to cancer some 14 years ago nearly. I will always remember the amazing care she received at St James hospital. The charity also supports among others the Rob Burrow Centre for MND appeal.
Lindsey would like to raise money for the Samaritans. Lindsey has chosen this charity in support of a colleague and friend Guy! Guy was the most amazing person, inside and out. It really is hard to put in to words just how wonderful he was! Sadly, we lost Guy 23rd February 2023! Lindsey will be running in his memory and for the chosen charity of his family and friends.
We really appreciate any support you can give us which will give us the extra motivation we need to get round the 26.2 miles.
Wish us luck
