Lindsey Ernst Double Lung Transplant Fundraiser

Lindsey Petersen Ernst is a lifelong Cystic Fibrosis warrior. CF is a progressive and genetic disease that causes a buildup of thick, sticky mucus in the body, especially in the lungs. Lindsey has battled this disease with grace, strength and humor for 35 years and, thanks to a generous angel donor, received a double lung transplant last month. Because of this selfless donor, Lindsey is looking at a new lease on life with much more independence and many more years with those she loves.

Surgery went very well and Lindsey and her family have been focused on her healing for the last few weeks. They received the news that she will be released from the University of Iowa hospital on Tuesday, October 6th, but will need to stay within a few miles of the hospital for a few weeks following her release so that doctors can monitor her and she can return quickly if any complications arise.

I know Lindsey has many family and friends that want to do anything they can to help her during this time, but may not know how. She is the sweetest soul and never asks for help, so we are stepping up to do it for her. Lindsey and her parents will be staying at an extended stay hotel for the next few weeks. Her mom, Sheri, her dad, Mike and her stepmom, Angie are her courageous support system and Lindsey credits them as the only reason she has stayed alive long enough to receive this transplant. This fundraiser is to help relieve the financial burden of the extended hotel stay, medical expenses, meals and gas for Lindsey's parents to drive back and forth to stay with Lindsey.
