House for Birds & Intermission

Donation protected

"A House for Birds" is a circus story that weaves a poetic thread between art and environment. A modern take on classical myth and symbolism, this one-woman show asks you to lay down your expectations, open your frame of reference, and reconsider what it is you call "home". Reaching you through aerials, folks songs, painting and video—as well as excerpts from Hesse and Shakespeare alongside her own writing—Sarah uses her background as a master Interdisciplinarian to paint an unusual portrait, both personal and universal.

AH4B is one part performance art, one part social practice. Since its inception and debut as a 45-minute solo work with an ecologically conscious message, it has been used as a dramaturgical platform to curate "Intermission Acts by Independent Artists"—a new way to connect performers with opportunity to present and value new work.

AH4B & Intermission are shown in a variety of circumstances and venues, and this is a social cause. Connecting with Beacon Food Forest is our hallmark project—joining a groundbreaking effort to gather community, rehab local ecosystems, and grow local food. This is a true marriage of ethos, performance, process, and practice.

Since we are prioritizing accessibility and socially driven opportunities and events, crowd-funding is ongoing to support the expense of travel, presentation, and artist support. Happily, interest and opportunities are many, and we hope to bring the work to as many communities as possible.

Thank you so much for your support.

Sarah

(**Here's a one-minute trailer for Sarah's solo. The independent work of "Intermission" artists is their work only, and will not be represented in the trailers at this point.)
