Thomas and Marlous' Adoption

Thomas and I talked about adopting very early on in our marriage. Even if we would have gotten pregnant right away, we knew that we would adopt at some point. So, after talking about it for quite a while we've decided: We're adopting a baby!

I have to say it is a little overwhelming to think of all the things that need to happen before we will hold our little one in our arms but we know that it will be worth it! We've come through immigration and a long distance relationship and we know we can overcome this as well.

Adopting a child is sort of like a very long pregnancy, possibly lasting years. It comes complete with emotional ups and downs. Let me break down the different "˜trimesters' for you:

First Trimester: selecting an adoption agency, pre application, official application, home study paperwork, home study assessment

Second Trimester: making an autobiography and adoption book so potential birthmothers can select us to parent their child, being selected by a birthmother and meeting her, accepting the match, paperwork, waiting until she has the baby.

Third Trimester: TAKE OUR BABY HOME!!!
