Help Lisa and family cope with cancer
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Patience Rankin. In December 2023, my mother Lisa Hayton, was diagnosed with extensive small cell lung cancer. While this is a terminal diagnosis, she is currently receiving chemo and immunotherapy to improve her quality of life and extend the time we have with her.
Lisa has spent her life caring for others. She is a 51 year old mother and grandmother with 5 grandchildren, 4 children (and more who have called her 'Mom'), and 4 fur babies. Two of her children are teens who still live in her home and are dependent on her for their care and livelihood. Jake is 19 years old and has some difficulties limiting his ability to assist financially for himself and the household. Ash is 17 years old and in their final semester of high school. Lisa is the primary provider for Jake and Ash.
Lisa had been working as a nurse and has been placed on short term disability, unable to work due to her pain, exhaustion, and side effects from both the cancer and the treatments. She receives a small portion of her income, but most importantly this pays for her to keep her health insurance and benefits from her employer.
We would very much like to help relieve the burdens of everyday life by using this money to help cover day-to-day expenses, as well as offset the costs of her treatments and medications. We would also like to be able to assist with Jake and Ash’s transition as they prepare for the loss of their primary caregiver.
Thank you so much for taking the time to consider this request and thank you in advance for whatever you are able to do to help.
