Hi, My name is Keith, I met Lisa a few days ago and wanted to try and help out if possible.
In memory of a Brave Heart.
Please take a couple of minutes to read this brief and powerful story.
I was extremely fortunate to meet this incredibly brave and inspirational young lady – her name is Lisa Bradley.
Long story short, we have been collecting names and email addresses in our store for marketing purposes over the last couple of months – in return, everyone who gave us details was entered into a ballot for our “Brave Heart” jewelry set valued at $2,500.
We collected hundreds of names and at the end of the day on the 15th of December, put them into a big jar, mixed them all up and I pulled the lucky victor. When I read the name, I was struck by the words “Please pick me” and a smiley face. When I discovered who it was I was blown away, it was as if the Universe or some greater power had put that name into my hand. I can’t imagine a more deserving recipient of this “Brave Heart” set.
It turns out that Lisa, who lived locally in North Vancouver, had made a special journey, with her mother’s help, to fill out her information the week before the ballot.
Lisa, who had two young children, a boy of 16 years and a girl of 11 years of age was suffering from incurable, untreatable brain cancer and had already expected the past Christmas, to be her last one with her family.
When Lisa came into the store, with her mother’s help, on that fortunate Saturday to receive her “Brave Heart” set, she looked beautiful and had obviously spent considerable time and effort preparing herself for a photo shoot with her spoils. When I was giving Lisa the “Brave Heart” set, I sat and talked with her for an hour or so. We shared stories, hugged, laughed and cried a little. Lisa was so open and grateful for every day. What an extraordinary girl!! So strong and so brave, I can only imagine how much energy it must have taken just to get out of bed, get dressed and face the world every morning, for her. I was so inspired by this young lady’s strength and ability to carry on with life even as her body fails her.
When I asked Lisa if she was ok with me trying to help her, she responded with this.
Those words are beautiful.
And, as much as I know my parents would help pay for the costs of my funeral etc. they’ve been paying for 5 years for me and my children to get by every month - plus helping with my kid's extra extraordinary lacrosse trips and gymnastics competitions. I don’t know what I would do if I had to tell my kids no, when they are both at the top of their games….! My parents put retirement on hold to be able to afford to help us. Which hurts my heart.
I think I would very much welcome some extra help in the coming months, if you think people would respond.
I have my jewelry on now! My two aunts and uncles are making a trip today to see me.
Yesterday I had a brain MRI, so I’ll see where I sit with extra tumor load…… hopefully none!! Hopefully, I make it a few more months!
Unfortunately, we just learned, that Lisa has passed away, this last weekend.
Lisa, really pulled at my heartstrings and everyone else’s here at the gallery.
Please help us to raise some financial support for her and her family for her funeral and the young family she leaves behind.
Thank you in advance,
Keith Jack family
