Lisa Fahie and Family fight ALS

It is with heartbreaking sadness that I share the news of my aunt Lisa’s diagnosis of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. She was officially diagnosed on May 23, 2023. This diagnosis helped to explain some of the symptoms she was experiencing, but it still caught us by surprise and is devastating at best. Lisa displays symptoms such as severe muscle weakness, lessening dexterity, and chronic fatigue. For those of you who know Lisa, it comes as no surprise that she is taking this diagnosis with positivity and grace.

Whether you know her to be Mikey’s biggest supporter, a loyal wife to Michael for 30 years, a friend, a neighbor in Pembroke, a former United States Postal Official Worker, or the best Fourth of July party hostess, you know just how amazing a person Lisa is. Following her retirement, she dedicated her time to transporting kids with special needs into the schooling system. She is the first to lend a helping hand to her friends and family in need, she has an open-door policy at home, and she truly would give you the shirt off of her back if it means helping others. Lisa is a genuinely kind-hearted person through and through. To know Lisa is to love Lisa.

Lisa has made the decision to surround herself with friends and family during this difficult time. Lisa and her family wish to stay in their home while fighting the disease and are asking for donations to help support her changing medical needs. These donations will directly aid handicap-accessible home renovations, and a wheelchair-accessible van, and help to offset the related costs of increased living expenses.

Lisa recently made the decision to be baptized, received her first communion, and made her confirmation to officially join the Catholic Church. She continues to rely on her faith for strength and comfort. If you are in a position to help or know someone (who can also), please forward this link to them.
