Lisa Lundy Support

Donation protected
Hi! My name is Angela MacKay, and I'm a friend of Lisa Lundy. I, and a whole tribe of other friends and family, are raising funds to help support Lisa's needs for medical care and financial support while she fights her brain tumor.

Situation:
On Thursday, 10/27/22, Lisa began experiencing a headache that started much like any other migraine she had experienced previously. However, this headache persisted longer than her typical migraines. Over the weekend, she noticed she kept dropping things, like her coffee mug and milk jugs. By Monday, 10/31, she decided to work from home as the headache, light sensitivity, and nausea just wouldn't budge. Around mid-morning, she had a seizure. Nana (her mom) was home and called 911 as soon as she saw Lisa have a seizure. She was taken to Baptist Hospital ER where they gave her medications to stop the seizure and ordered a CT scan. The CT scan revealed a 5 cm mass on the right side of her brain. This condition prompted a transfer to Sacred Heart Hospital, where a neurosurgeon consulted on her case. The neurosurgeon, Maria Toledo, MD, ordered more tests, including an MRI on Tuesday, 11/1. The mass appeared to be a brain tumor that needed to be removed. We would all learn after the surgery what type of tumor it was so that a plan could be developed. On Wednesday, 11/2, Lisa had surgery to remove the brain tumor. The surgeon successfully removed most of the tumor, and initial pathology analysis revealed it was a Glioblastoma Multiforme or GBM for short. Lisa improved immediately after the surgery, improving her left-sided weakness and speech difficulty. She was discharged from the hospital on Friday, 11/4.

Lisa will need physical and speech therapy to regain mobility and improve her speech. She will also begin oral chemotherapy and radiation therapy to destroy the remaining tumor cells. This treatment is usually started about two weeks after the surgery.

Her tribe will provide wonderful physical, mental, and emotional help. However, Lisa will need our help to pay for the medical copays and compensate for her loss of income.

A little about Lisa:
Lisa is a friend to everyone and always lends a helping hand whenever needed, even when inconvenient. When you look up "friend" in the dictionary, I bet you would see her picture as the embodiment of that noun. She is a widowed mother of two wonderful adult children, little Mark and Jordyn. She was widowed from her high school sweetheart, Mark, just barely three years ago (August 2019). Mark, her eldest son, is expecting his firstborn child and Lisa's first grandchild in Feb 2023.
