Lisa Morrow Family
Donation protected
This past week on September 11, 2019, the small town of Ponder suddenly lost one of its own. The day before she died, my sister, Lisa went to the doctor for a sprained ankle, got it wrapped, went to bed that night and never woke up. Suddenly, my niece and nephew, Emily and Jake are without the only parent they ever had, and nobody saw it coming. They were as close as any three people could be. Even though Lisa and the kids shared a house with Mom, Lisa was the primary money maker, and now they’re in trouble. They need help and they need it now. There will be attorney’s fees to handle the legal issues of the house and guardianship. There will be expenses that Lisa would have paid with her income that Mom just won’t have the money for on her own; things like the mortgage payment for as long as they keep the house, upcoming expenses for a 15-year old boy like Jake such as a car and insurance, paying for college (there is no money saved for this at all), clothes, band activities, prom, etc. Emily just started college, and most of that’s covered, but Lisa was paying for car insurance, cell phones, etc. They just need help with paying for things that normal families pay for. We want to make sure Jake and Emily have what they need to live the most normal lives we can give them without their mom.
So as Jake and Emmy's aunt and uncle, Tim and I are managing this campaign and have opened a bank account to receive all donations we raise here until Mom needs them and then we will transfer them to her account. They will pay for things such as driver's ed training, future car expenses and an upcoming school trip for Jake. It will also pay for unforeseen college expenses, new school clothes and estate legal costs, for example, and will be drawn from this account as needed.
We’ve been so grateful for such an outpouring of cards, sympathy and food brought to the house; and we have been touched because so many have asked how they could help, and we just didn’t know what to say, but donating here to Jake and Emmy would be the ultimate act of kindness and love they are so deserving of.
