Lisa was a happy and healthy 42-year-old single mom who had everything going for her. She had a loving daughter who was the light of her life, a job she enjoyed, and supportive parents always willing to help. Lisa’s loving spirit shone brightly in everything she did. However, in 2022, her life changed drastically when she was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer.
Ovarian cancer is one of the most deadly and aggressive forms of cancer, especially for young women. It is often called the “silent killer” because it has no obvious symptoms until it is too late. Lisa was to undergo surgery to remove her ovaries but never made it that far due to complications with the prescribed course of action.
Lisa felt helpless but never let anyone know. She was always positive and busy trying to give her daughter the best life that she could, which meant that she marched in parades through two summer parade seasons since her daughter was a majorette in the high school band. I’m sure she wondered why this had happened to her, and if she would ever get better, but she stayed positive and bright.
Lisa is still fighting this battle almost two years later. She is not able to work anymore but through a lot of caring people can keep some sense of independence. She has a lot of people who care about her and want to help her. Her family, friends, co-workers, and even strangers rally around her and support her in any way they can. Many people are praying for her.
Lisa’s cousins are starting this GoFundMe campaign to raise money for her expenses. Lisa still has a long road ahead of her and will need a lot of help. She battles this beast every day but is not giving up. Lisa lives each day with courage, gratitude, and joy. She is hoping for a miracle, but she is also making the most of what she has. Lisa’s light is still shining. Please help us to keep that light bright.
