Lisa Rose Breast Cancer Fund
Donation protected
Hi there, my name is Amy Beebe and I am fundraising for my aunt, Lisa Rose, as she battles cancer. Just before Thanksgiving, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Over 18 weeks, she will have chemo treatments to shrink the mass, followed by surgery to remove anything that remains. After surgery, she’ll continue to need IV meds throughout the rest of the year to reduce the chance of cancer returning. Because of an existing chronic medical condition, it has been hard for her to work much over the past couple of years and contribute to the household income. She and her family are now struggling to make ends meet, and her recent diagnosis will only add to their financial predicament.
Her family is covered by a high-deductible health plan. When the new year begins, they will be on the hook for 100% of every office visit, chemo session, etc., until they reach their out-of-pocket maximum. On top of this, they are still paying medical bills from 2 years ago, including surgeries for her and her daughter and a hospital stay for her husband. My aunt and her 15-year-old daughter both need to see doctors regularly for a genetic condition called Ehlers’s-Danlos Syndrome, which causes fatigue and chronic pain. They are unable to do so because of their financial limitations.
Their savings has already been completely depleted due to plumbing leaks in their house. They have had eight leaks in the past year and a half, costing them over $5000 to repair. The house desperately needs to be replumbed, which will cost over $19,000. There is a class action lawsuit in the works, but it will be many months or years before they are able to get any reimbursement. On top of plumbing issues, the house needs foundation work that will cost $10,000. Selling and purchasing a new home is not an option because rising interest rates make moving equally expensive.
They are under immense financial strain. The current inflation crisis is magnifying the problem, making it difficult for them to afford daily necessities and pay their mortgage. If you have a few dollars to spare, please consider helping them out!
