The last 16 years have been quite a journey for our family. We are thankful as it has brought us closer together, but we have also been tested in ways we never imagined. The journey started when my mother was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Her diagnosis led almost immediately to her having to have a double masectomy. Then 7 years ago our journey hit another roadblock when she developed Acute Lymbeosbastic Leukemia (ALL). Our whole family was tested to see if any of our bone marrow was a match. We prayed and prayed, and finally our prayers were answered when we found a donor since none of us had been a match. Once the match was found my mother underwent a bone marrow transplant. She started to feel more like herself, and after some time she went into remission. Almost two years later she knew something wasn't right when her legs started giving out. At first, it was just stairs that were almost impossible for her to walk up. However, it progressively got worst and she has now lost the ability to move her legs at all. My father has had to become her caretaker and help her every day with even basic movement and functions. We prayed and prayed to find an answer, and finally a doctor was able to diagnose her disease as being a motor neuron disease, know as ALS. Most of you know my mom has been sick from a virus she caught a couple of months ago. The best option was to have a trache done, to prevent any back up or build up. The trache is preventing any infection or build up in her lungs, since she can not physically do it herself. With all the medical bills and my dad being her full-time caregiver, he has been home with her and not been able to go back to work, to help keep income. Thank you for all the love and prayers!!
