My name is Lisa Little and I am a sister, mother, girlfriend, small business owner and a Leukemia Fighter.
I am raising money to help me put all the pieces of my life back together. Please help me.
On may 5,2015 I made a big dinner for family. I remember that I was stirring up the macaroni and cheese and when I was finished I literally felt like my entire arm was exhausted. It was then that I decided that I was going in the morning to be seen by a doctor.
For a month or so I had been feeling extra tired. I looked up menopause on the internet and I thought I pretty much had all the signs so I just brushed it off to getting older and so on. Boy was I wrong!
On May 6, 2015 my daughter drove me to the Emergency Room at our local hospital. When we checked in I told the receptionist what my symptoms were and literally within 5 minutes I was being taken to the back. They immediately drew blood and sent it off to be tested. Within another 25 minutes the results were back and I was told that I had Leukemia.
The look in my daughters eyes was confused, scared, disbelief, I am guessing the same look she saw in mine.
I was told immediately that I would be transfered to a larger hospital shortly because I needed a blood transfusion as soon as I could get one.
I had to get out of that room...I wanted to Un hear what they said to me. There is no way I heard it right! I couldn't possibly have CANCER? WTH!
My boyfriend arrived at the hospital shortly after I called him and they allowed him to transport me to the larger hospital. We left immediately. Even on the way there I just thought it was a minor thing and I would be done sooner than later.
So at the second hospital now, blood transfusion started...Dr. comes in and says that I would transfered to The James Cancer Hopsital in Columbus Ohio in the morning.
Again my boyfriend was allowed to drive me as long as we went straight there which we did. On the 2 hour drive up I had little outburts of uncontrollable laughter, and then immediate sobbing and yellingout loud. I couldnt believe it, I couldn't understand it and to be honest I was positive that I was dreaming and going to wake up shortly!
Arrived at The James Cancer Hospital at 4pm on May 7, 2015.
