"Hey everybody! Let's support this dynamo of a woman, this bon-vivant, this artistic force of nature as she embarkes on her healing journey from cancer. Let's show her the love" - Lori Yates
One evening in May before going to bed, I found a lump in my breast. I was assured that it was 95% a cyst and nothing to worry about, but asked that we get it checked out. After weeks of ultrasounds, tests and biopsies, I was diagnosed with Invasive Ductal Carcinoma aka Breast Cancer.
One month after my diagnosis I had surgery to remove the tumour. I was not able to work for two months. Thankfully it hasn't spread. I am now getting ready to undergo both radiation and hormone suppression therapy starting next week. I am not sure how I will react to these treatments and hope that the side effects are minimal.
After talking to my friend Lori Yates, she had suggested that I should start up a GoFundMe campaign. At first, I was hesitant, but after much thought, I realized that I do need some help with this cancer challenge.
I am looking for support to help pay for alternative therapies including osteopathy, craniosacral therapy and work with a nutritionist. This way I can focus on healing from radiation, the surgery and the stress of it all.
I look forward to being finished with treatment and getting back to my life as a mother, an artist and an arts educator.
Thank you all so much, this does mean the world to me.
Lisa.
