Lisa's kidney journey...a little goes a long way
Donation protected
Lisa was admitted into Raulerson Hospital ER for altered mental status because of her confusion and lethargy. There was strong suspicion of kidney failure. She had a large evaluation including scan of her abdomen, pelvis, brain, and chest. The scans did not show any abnormalities. Her labs however did show severe renal failure, with a creatine of 17. She also had other severe electrolyte abnormalities including a significant elevated potassium level which was concerning since it can cause the heart to stop. She also had a test that measures the acidity of her blood and it was very acidic which can cause multiple organ failure. Raulerson did not have the ability to perform dialysis so they tried to use medications to try and combat the electrolyte changes in her body while they tried to find a location to transfer her to for dialysis. She was transferred to Jupiter medical center, a port placed and connected to dialysis. This assisted in in improving the potassium and other electrolyte concerns. She has been in the hospital for several days, receiving dialysis. At this time it is unknown how long she will need to have dialysis or if she will need to go on a kidney transplant list. The doctors will continue with testing to try and figure out what caused the kidneys to shut down.
A Go Fund me is being set up to assist Lisa and Clinton with the extra expenses they will be encountering due her having to go to dialysis 1 ½ hours away from their home a few times a week. They live on a very limited income so anything that you can help out with will definitely help them.
