Lisa's Liver Journey
Donation protected
My name is Keisha and I am a liver transplant survivor and will celebrate my 6-year "liverversary" in January!
Last summer I was matched with Lisa, a pre-liver transplant patient through a non-profit called PretoPost.org. The purpose of this organization is to match people who have been through a similar story with someone who is just beginning their process as liver disease affects every aspect of one's life and can be a long, painful, and debilitating journey.
Lisa and I hit it off and now text and talk weekly. Lisa is truly the most fascinating woman I have ever known and someone who I am proud to now call a friend.
Lisa has end-stage liver disease and is currently going through the final testing to be placed on the transplant list to receive a new liver.
Having gone through my own liver journey, I know a thing or two about the round-the-clock care that Lisa will need once she leaves the hospital and that's why I have decided to fly to California after Lisa's transplant to help with her care and her healing journey.
A little about Lisa... in her own words she "has lived three lives in this one already". She has been asked to be a life coach and told she could be a Reiki Master. She does PR for a Heavy metal band and a hard rock burlesque show. She's been a woman's heavyweight boxing champ, was into racing cars and smash up derby's, she's played women's basketball, learned to play the drums, and even played in punk and rock bands.
Lisa is currently unable to work and therefore struggles with day-to-day expenses. After her transplant, Lisa will need to stay close to the hospital and will need help with basic needs like walking, bathing, cooking, wound care, drainage tubes, and getting to endless doctor appointments.
Although this is a huge commitment that will affect my own life and family I knew that I needed to do this.
Please consider donating to Lisa to help with her day-to-day expenses or aftercare. All donations will go directly to Lisa and her care both pre and post-transplant.
