Lisa's Fight Against Breast Cancer
Donation protected
In July of 2012 our mother, Elizabeth Gonzalez, was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer. She underwent chemotherapy, radiation and a double mastectomy. After the surgery we were VERY fortunate to hear the doctor say she was in remission.
She has been seeing her oncologist once every three months since November of 2012. In our mind it was just something that was required of a cancer survivor. Little did we know we know she would be here fighting this cancer again just two years later.
On October 31, 2014 we received the worst call you can imagine. The doctor confirmed the cancer had returned. Our mother is now in Stage 4 and fighting for her life. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy again and in great spirits.
Her wonderful oncologist at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago has recommended she take time off of work and focus on resting and staying healthy. She has been on short-term disability since November. We are all doing what we can to keep things as "normal" as possible. The stress of being ill and not working has definitely taken a toll.
We have decided to create this page in hopes of raising money to help with day to day expenses for our mom, our younger siblings, and various medical costs. We hope this will greatly ease her stress. Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Please continue to pray for our family as we know that everything is God's hands.
