Lisbon to the Black Sea: Mental Health Tour
Tax deductible
It's that time again.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month and the Dawgpatch Bandits are in full support.
The Bandits are back in the saddle for the fourth time to promote fitness as a positive outlet for individuals in substance abuse and mental health recovery.
Our goal is to raise $25,000 to continue our Fitness Station Campaign as we bicycle over 4,000 miles from Lisbon, Portugal to Constanța, Romania beginning April 25th. The purpose of this campaign is to build outdoor fitness stations at mental health and substance abuse recovery centers, schools, and community-use parks across the United States.
For a classic DPB Fitness Station, a donation of:
$300 covers the cost of concrete and lumber
$500 covers the cost of parallel bars (American made)
$1000 covers the cost of pull-up bars (American made)
$5000 covers the cost, including shipping, for all materials
The first 100 people who donate over $100 will receive a limited-release POINT TO POINT nylon-mesh back hat. You MUST email your mailing address to info (@) dawgpatchbandits (.) com to receive your hat.
NEW Sponsor a Fitness Station: If you or your corporation/foundation would like to cover the cost of a complete fitness station for a donation of $10,000 you can do so here.
If you would like to donate directly through our website you can do so here.
All funds raised go directly toward the campaign.
To date, with the help of your donations, Dawgpatch Bandits Inc. has designed and built eight outdoor fitness stations across four states; six at substance abuse & mental health recovery centers, two at public schools, and one at a veteran's mental health retreat. Two more stations are scheduled to be completed this Spring.
These fitness stations provide a direct resource for individuals to practice functional fitness and improve mental and physical health. Exercise helps counter depression, anxiety, stress, and insomnia; conditions common for those in recovery. The stations have a tangible and positive effect on individuals in their recovery.
Consider this testimonial from Casey Monroe, LCSW Director of Mental Health at Strongpoint Theinert Ranch:
"The Dawgpatch Bandits fitness station installed at Strongpoint Theinert Ranch has been an incredible healing tool. Our veterans and active duty military members greatly benefit from the daily physical activity made possible in the DPB outdoor gym during their substance abuse and post-traumatic stress recovery. It is an integral part of our program with early morning workouts encouraged in the beautiful foothills of the Magdalena Mountain Range."
