Lismore Flood Community Flood rescue training

Hello kind people,

I am "Phil" Tully Benfield; I was involved in the community flood rescues in the Lismore area with my own personal boat along with hundreds of other community volunteers in their own boats.

We were out there to help others, and we were not part of any emergency service organisation. We just all did what was needed at the time.

I could only count on both hands the number of people out on the dangerous floodwaters who were qualified to be safe around flood water.

My background for the past 25 years has been training people in Swiftwater Rescue.

As seen on other posts, I want to raise funds to support the private company "Search and Rescue Services PTY LTD" to train community members in handling boats and being safe around floodwaters as well as equipment for training, water-based person recovery. (I'm not allowed to use the word rescue)

I also want to raise money to purchase a boat or two for training and be available for other flood disasters.

I am really hoping for a lot more money to be raised, but this will be a great start.

We were so lucky on many fronts not to lose more victims and more community-based person recovery members.
