Literacy Center in Gashora, Rwanda

Hi,

My name is Jai Essence and I am actively raising money to build a literacy center in Gashora, Rwanda.

For the past two years, I have been working in this community and building a farm. Throughout my time, I keep noticing the need for creating a space where reading, writing, and oral communication will be vital to the village and the children of Gashora. This is a space where books, assistance, and literacy will be at the forefront to work with families in English and Kinyarwanda so students will have a greater understanding of language.

The funds will be used to secure location, build a center, outfit it with tables, books, and academic resources. We will work with the local community to ensure that donated dollars go into the local economy and create jobs and opportunities for our families to live and strive off of.

This literacy will impact over 150 families in the Gashora area. In our previous community service projects we have a number of kids and parents come out and participate in our events, we want to build a center that can house this on a regular basis. We plan on story hours, homework help, Science Saturdays, Adult literacy hours and more.

As an educator, I am dedicate towards building a center that accurately focuses on language aquisition and supporting learners on all levels.
