Literacy Teaching in Pakistan
Tax deductible
Can you imagine living life as an adult without being able to read? No books or newspapers to give you understanding or perspective. No ability to read stories to your children or grandchildren. No way to read street signs or directions. In many areas of Pakistan, only about a third of Christians are able to read. We at Reach the Nations have long had a vision of helping to give new opportunities to these men and women.
The time has come! We are very excited to launch an adult literacy program in Islamabad, Pakistan. We have found a wonderful Pakistani woman who is certified to teach adults how to read and write in Urdu. The first class began this week and boasts 16 students, all women.
They will meet three evenings each week for two hours in each session. The goal: To teach basic reading and writing skills so these students will be better equipped to get jobs, to read the Bible, and to expand their understanding of their culture and the world.
$200 per month will cover the costs of this program - including classroom space, the teacher's salary, and books and materials. Our goal is to raise $2,400 to fund the first year so the studies can continue without interruption. Will you help us? Even a small donation can make a big difference among the poor in Pakistan.
Reach the Nations is a U. S.-based Christian ministry focused on leadership training, community health, evangelism, and discipleship, both in the U. S. and in Pakistan.
